The Peddler Show Arriving in Midland

Start your Christmas shopping early by attending The Peddler Show at Midland Center, 105 N Wall.

The show runs Friday through Sunday, September 25-27 and hours are as follows:

Friday: 3 pm – 8 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 6 pm
Sunday: 11 am – 4 pm

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for Seniors (65+), and kids under 12 get in free.

Midland Christian To Have Games Televised

MCS logoKMID ABC will be televising, via tape delay, Midland Christian’s Homecoming game versus Breckenridge this Friday, September 25th as well as their game against Fort Worth Southwest Christian on Friday November 6th.

Currently, the Midland Christian Booster Club is looking to raise $1,800 per game via advertising sponsors for these two games.

If your company has a 30 second commercial, that can certainly be used. If not, you can place your logo along with an advertising message as your commercial.

Advertisers can choose to be the sole sponsor or a partial sponsor.

Permian Basin Wine Society Wine Hike

This year’s event will be held October 31 through November 1st and will feature a hike through McKittrick Canyon in New Mexico.

NASA Engineer To Speak at Petroleum Museum

The Petroluem Museum will be hosting it’s premier event as part of The Arlen Edgar Distinguished Lecture Series on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 with a lecture featuring National Geographic Speaker and NASA Engineer, Kobie Boykins.

A dynamic young engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Kobie Boykins is on the frontline of Mars exploration. Boykins designed the solar arrays that power the remarkable Mars Expedition Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, which continue to send back data from our nearest planetary neighbor more than four years after being deployed. He is currently working at NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory, preparing the actuators for the next mission. Boykins’ other projects have included work on the Mars Pathfinder Mission and the Ocean Surface Topography Mission, making measurements by satellite of the Earth’s oceans.

The lecture begins at 7 pm and is free to the public, although the capacity is limited to 200 people.

Brown Bag Luncheon Series at Ellen Noël Art Museum

On Golden Pond at Midland Community Theatre

OnGoldenPondSummer has again arrived on Golden Pond and so have the Thayers, their daughter, her fiancé, and, to the dismay of Norman, his son.  Join us for this heart-warming production about family, growing old, and passing on your wisdom to the ones you leave behind.

On Golden Pond, by Ernest Thompson, will be playing in the Davis Theatre One starting October 2 and running through October 17.

Recommended for those 8 and up due to language and adult situations.

Casting Call for “A Christmas Carol”

holly berriesMidland Community Theatre will be hosting auditions for this year’s presentation of A Christmas Carol on October 3-5, 2009. Auditions will be held at the Cole Theatre, 2000 W. Wadley, in Midland.

Youth Auditions will be by appointment only on Saturday, October 3rd. Please note, youth must be 8 years old, at the time of Auditions, to be cast in the show.

Adult Auditions for be held on Sunday, October 4th and beginning at 6:30 pm on Monday, October 5th.

Heaven to Hell Motorcycle Ride

This popular motorcycle ride through the Big Bend area returns after a 3 year hiatus on Saturday, September 26th.

Per the event registration form:

The event will follow a loose rally format, with participants receiving directions for the entire route, including the options, at check-in. Riders will then depart on their own and pass through two to four check points throughout the ride. General timing for the entire route will be based on speeds that do not exceed posted speed limits. Registration includes a commemorative 2009 ride pin, patch, cap, breakfast and dinner, door prizes and raffle. Participants may ride in large or small groups at their own choosing in accordance with preference as to speed and riding style. Fuel, food and rest facilities are available along the route.
